Large U.S. bank collapse seen ahead

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

SINGAPORE - The worst of the global financial crisis is yet to come and a large U.S. bank will fail in the next few months as the world’s biggest economy hits further troubles, former IMF chief economist Kenneth Rogoff said on Tuesday.

“The U.S. is not out of the woods. I think the financial crisis is at the halfway point, perhaps. I would even go further to say ‘the worst is to come’,” he told a financial conference.

“We’re not just going to see mid-sized banks go under in the next few months, we’re going to see a whopper, we’re going to see a big one, one of the big investment banks or big banks,” said Rogoff, who is an economics professor at Harvard University and was the International Monetary Fund’s chief economist from 2001 to 2004.

“We have to see more consolidation in the financial sector before this is over,” he said, when asked for early signs of an end to the crisis.

“Probably Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — despite what U.S. Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson said — these giant mortgage guarantee agencies are not going to exist in their present form in a few years.”

Rogoff’s comments come as investors dumped shares of the largest U.S. home funding companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac on Monday after a newspaper report said government officials may have no choice but to effectively nationalize the U.S. housing finance titans.

A government move to recapitalize the two companies by injecting funds could wipe out existing common stock holders, the weekend Barron’s story said. Preferred shareholders and even holders of the two government-sponsored entities’ $19 billion of subordinated debt would also suffer losses.

McCain does not even know how many homes he owns.

If ever there was an elitists snob it is this Manchurian Candidate McCain.

Remember that this man McCain cheated on his severely injured wife to run away with a rich sugar momma. So if you claim to have family values and you vote for McCain, you are a hypocrite, plain and simple.

Obama Sued in Philadelphia Federal Court on Grounds he is Constitutionally Ineligible for the Presidency

A prominent Philadelphia attorney and Hillary Clinton supporter filed suit this afternoon in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, the Democratic National Committee and the Federal Election Commission. The action seeks an injunction preventing the senator from continuing his candidacy and a court order enjoining the DNC from nominating him next week, all on grounds that Sen. Obama is constitutionally ineligible to run for and hold the office of President of the United States.

Phillip Berg, the filing attorney, is a former gubernatorial and senatorial candidate, former chair of the Democratic Party in Montgomery (PA) County, former member of the Democratic State Committee, and former Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania. According to Berg, he filed the suit–just days before the DNC is to hold its nominating convention in Denver–for the health of the Democratic Party.

“I filed this action at this time,” Berg stated, “to avoid the obvious problems that will occur when the Republican Party raises these issues after Obama is nominated.”.

Berg cited a number of unanswered questions regarding the Illinois senator’s background, and in today’s lawsuit maintained that Sen. Obama is not a natural born U.S. citizen or that, if he ever was, he lost his citizenship when he was adopted in Indonesia. Berg also cites what he calls “dual loyalties” due to his citizenship and ties with Kenya and Indonesia

American Eagle gold coins sold out after spree

NEW YORK — A buying spree in the popular American Eagle bullion coins appears to have depleted inventory of major North American coin dealers, contributing to supply fears and sharply higher gold prices on Thursday.

Coin dealers in the United States and Canada said buying of gold coins and other bullion products has soared since last week as gold prices tumbled to near a nine-month bottom.

Blanchard and Co., one of the largest U.S. retail dealers of rare coins and precious metals, said the American Eagle and American Buffalo one-ounce gold coins — novel items among collectors and investors — are currently sold out.

“Nobody has the Eagles or the Buffalos right now. We bought 2,000 ounces late last week, and those were the last 2,000 ounces that we can find in the marketplace,” said David Beahm, vice president of New Orleans-based Blancard.

“If we don’t have them, nobody has them,” Beahm said.

According to a Thursday report by the Wall Street Journal, the U.S. Mint told dealers it was temporarily suspending all sales of the American Eagle coins due to depleted inventory and unprecedented demand.

Michael White, a spokesman of the U.S. Mint, did not return calls for comment.

Meanwhile, Canada-based dealer Kitco also said demand for gold bullion coins has increased significantly in recent days.

Kitco’s Senior Analyst Jon Nadler said American Eagles are still in stock even though delays in supply and shipping of all bullion products could be possible due to high demand.

On Thursday, spot gold was up more than 3 percent to $837 an ounce, while U.S. gold futures for December delivery scaled a one-week high at $845 an ounce.

George Gero, vice president of RBC Capital Markets Global Futures in New York, cited the gold coin shortage for Thursday’s gold rally.

New Guidelines Would Give F.B.I. Broader Powers

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

By ERIC LICHTBLAU

WASHINGTON — A Justice Department plan would loosen restrictions on the Federal Bureau of Investigation to allow agents to open a national security or criminal investigation against someone without any clear basis for suspicion, Democratic lawmakers briefed on the details said Wednesday.

The plan, which could be made public next month, has already generated intense interest and speculation. Little is known about its precise language, but civil liberties advocates say they fear it could give the government even broader license to open terrorism investigations.

Congressional staff members got a glimpse of some of the details in closed briefings this month, and four Democratic senators told Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey in a letter on Wednesday that they were troubled by what they heard.

The senators said the new guidelines would allow the F.B.I. to open an investigation of an American, conduct surveillance, pry into private records and take other investigative steps “without any basis for suspicion.” The plan “might permit an innocent American to be subjected to such intrusive surveillance based in part on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, or on protected First Amendment activities,” the letter said. It was signed by Russ Feingold of Wisconsin, Richard J. Durbin of Illinois, Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts and Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island.

As the end of the Bush administration nears, the White House has been seeking to formalize in law and regulation some of the aggressive counterterrorism steps it has already taken in practice since the Sept. 11 attacks.

Congress overhauled the federal wiretapping law in July, for instance, and President Bush issued an executive order this month ratifying new roles for intelligence agencies. Other pending changes would also authorize greater sharing of intelligence information with the local police, a major push in the last seven years.

The Justice Department is already expecting criticism over the F.B.I. guidelines. In an effort to pre-empt critics, Mr. Mukasey gave a speech last week in Portland, Ore., describing the unfinished plan as an effort to “integrate more completely and harmonize the standards that apply to the F.B.I.’s activities.” Differing standards, he said, have caused confusion for field agents.

Mr. Mukasey emphasized that the F.B.I. would still need a “valid purpose” for an investigation, and that it could not be “simply based on somebody’s race, religion, or exercise of First Amendment rights.”

Rather than expanding government power, he said, “this document clarifies the rules by which the F.B.I. conducts its intelligence mission.”

In 2002, John Ashcroft, then the attorney general, allowed F.B.I. agents to visit public sites like mosques or monitor Web sites in the course of national security investigations. The next year, Mr. Bush issued guidelines allowing officials to use ethnicity or race in “narrow” circumstances to detect a terrorist threat.

The Democratic senators said the draft plan appeared to allow the F.B.I. to go even further in collecting information on Americans connected to “foreign intelligence” without any factual predicate. They also said there appeared to be few constraints on how the information would be shared with other agencies.

Michael German, a lawyer with the American Civil Liberties Union and a former F.B.I. agent, said the plan appeared to open the door still further to the use of data-mining profiles in tracking terrorism.

“This seems to be based on the idea that the government can take a bunch of data and create a profile that can be used to identify future bad guys,” he said. “But that has not been demonstrated to be true anywhere else.”

The Justice Department said Wednesday that in light of requests from members of Congress for more information, Mr. Mukasey would agree not to sign the new guidelines before a Sept. 17 Congressional hearing.

Solar Power anyone?

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

Their mission: to deliver cost-efficient solar electricity. The Nanosolar company was founded in 2002 and is working to build the world’s largest solar cell factory in California and the world’s largest panel-assembly factory in Germany. They have successfully created a solar coating that is the most cost-efficient solar energy source ever. Their PowerSheet cells contrast the current solar technology systems by reducing the cost of production from $3 a watt to a mere 30 cents per watt. This makes, for the first time in history, solar power cheaper than burning coal. These coatings are as thin as a layer of paint and can transfer sunlight to power at amazing efficiency. Although the underlying technology has been around for years, Nanosolar has created the actual technology to manufacture and mass produce the solar sheets. The Nanosolar plant in San Jose, once in full production in 2008, will be capable of producing 430 megawatts per year. This is more than the combined total of every other solar manufacturer in the U.S.

A Nevada Jury slams California Tax Board with 388 Million FRN Judgment for Outrageous Conduct

Monday, August 18th, 2008

By Christopher Hansen

Steve Wiegand of the Sacramento Bee is reporting that Gilbert P. Hyatt has received a jury awarded judgment against the known fascists of our time. Tax collectors.

ONE MAN Stood up and fought. ONE MAN Gave us the NEW shot heard round the world. ONE MAN challenged this corrupt system in front of a jury. ONE MAN.

The jury award 250 million “dollars” in punitive damages. Of course the most he will probably collect of that is only 250 million Federal Reserve Notes because the system is so corrupt, but at least this is a shot across the bow of these criminal tax collectors that collect taxes, not by the law, but by intimidation.

Steve Wiegand reports that former Chief Counsel for the California Tax Board, Brian Toman, called the judgment “completely unprecedented.”

This is what we need to restore liberty “completely unprecedented” acts by Americans and by our jurors. Jurors are Americans last defense against tyranny without the horrible costs of blood.

LOOK Americans what you can do on a jury. LOOK and see the power you have to restore America to a free country and FORCE these so called government servants that have become Nazis and Tyrants to follow the law or face the wrath of We the People,… We the Sovereignty.

We Freedom loving Americans CAN corral these evil Fascists if we will but use the weapons against tyranny forged from the blood of our Founding Fathers. It is the jury system.

If Americans on juries would just demand to know what law makes the average American liable for the Income Tax and refuse to convict if the judge does not give the CLEAR and UNEQUIVOCAL Law then tyranny would end. Then when people sue these tyrants and jurors stand up like this Clark County, Nevada jury did then freedom could be restored without firing a shot.

Learn more about what you can do. Don’t try to get out of jury duty . Embrace it as a God given gift to fight against these tyrants. Convict no man or woman that has not hurt another American. Learn what POWER you have as a single juror!

Listen to the words he told a Sacramento Bee reporter in a 2003 interview. Words that should come from the lips of EVERY freedom loving American:

“I’ve got better things to do than to take on other people, but when I’ve got to, I defend myself. I will never submit to blackmail or extortion.”

The IRS thrives on blackmail and extortion.

Steve Wiegand reported:

The board moved to have the lawsuit dismissed, contending it could not be sued in a Nevada court, and that under California law, FTB employees were immune from litigation for actions that were part of their jobs.

But in 2003, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously rejected the FTB’s challenge, and Hyatt’s suit was allowed to proceed.

Let us all salute this hero and start standing up to tyrants acting under color of law. Remember that just because a man claims to have authority if he/she is not protecting the Constitution and upholding it FIRST and foremost then he/she is a traitor to liberty and it is your duty to “never submit to blackmail or extortion.”

If God can still hear us through are own cowardice and voluntary slavery may he bless enough of us with the courage of Gilbert P. Hyatt and the Nevada jury that smashed tyranny in the mouth, at least this one time.
