Original Sovereignty of Indian Nations

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

By Joe Garcia/Ernie Stevens: Original sovereignty

“Attacks on Indian sovereignty no longer start with a charge of the 7th Cavalry. Instead, these attacks start with bureaucratic ignorance. In the debate over the National Labor Relations Act, after treating Indian tribes as governments for almost 70 years, the National Labor Relations Board flip-flopped and decided to treat tribal governments as “quasi-commercial.”

The IRS, for its part, has decided to audit tribal government health care programs to determine if tribal citizens should pay income tax on health care. Federal health care benefits are not taxable, state health care benefits are not taxable, so why does the IRS discriminate against tribal health care – after all, tribal governments are providing care because the federal government has never adequately funded its treaty and statutory obligations for the IHS.

As Indian nations, we must stand firm. The Constitution acknowledges our status as prior sovereigns, treaties guarantee our status as governments, and federal statutes must treat Indian tribes as sovereigns. So, we reject the NLRB ruling that Indian nations are less than other governments. We reject the IRS actions that discriminate against tribal health care benefits. It is wrong for agency bureaucracies to act contrary to the Constitution’s recognition of Indian tribes as governments, contrary to congressional enactments and contrary to executive orders. Yet, it may take further acts of Congress to once again set these wayward agencies back on the straight path. Because we honor our grandfathers and grandmothers and those who have gone before, we cannot and will not negotiate away our status as the first sovereigns of this great land.

We call upon all of Indian country to join the fight to protect Indian sovereignty! Call your senators and congressmen and tell them to honor their pledge to uphold the Constitution by treating Indian tribes as governments under the NLRA, the Internal Revenue Code and all federal statutes. Thank you for your strong support of Indian sovereignty.”

GUNS… Which side of this issue do you support?

Friday, July 24th, 2009

The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able may have a gun. –Patrick Henry

The Constitution of the United States shall never be construed to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms. –Samuel Adams

Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA - ordinary citizens don’t need guns, as their having guns doesn’t serve the State. –Heinrich Himmler

The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subjected peoples to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the underdog is a sine qua non ["something essential" lit. "without which not"] for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let’s not have any native militia or police. –Adolph Hitler, Edict of March 18, 1938

On the morrow of each conflict I gave the categorical order to confiscate the largest possible number of weapons of every sort and kind. This confiscation, which continues with the utmost energy, has given satisfactory results. –Prime Minister Benito Mussolini, June 8, 1923.

Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest. –Mahatma Gandhi

The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed. –Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist Papers.

Common and political criminals prefer unarmed victims. –Daniel McGavin Hansen

The people of the various provinces are strictly forbidden to have in their possession any swords, bows, spears, firearms, or other types of arms. The possession of these elements makes difficult the collection of taxes and dues, and tends to permit uprising. Therefore, the heads of provinces, official agents, and deputies are ordered to collect all the weapons mentioned above and turn them over to the government. –Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Shogun, August 29, 1558, Japan.

No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. –Thomas Jefferson, June 1776.

To disarm the people (is) the best and most effectual way to enslave them… –George Mason

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it. –Thomas Paine

Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any bands of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States. –Noah Webster

Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty, teeth and keystone under independence. The church, the plow, the prairie wagon and citizens’ firearms are indelibly related. From the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurrences and tendencies prove that, to ensure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable. Every corner of this land knows firearms, and more than 99 and 99-100 percent of them by their silence indicate they are in safe and sane hands. The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil influence. They deserve a place of honor with all that’s good. When firearms go, all goes. We need them every hour. –George Washington

Re: Your unconstitutional tazing

Friday, July 24th, 2009

Dear Mr. Ciampi

I laud your efforts to seek out justice. Let me tell you first, there are many fine women and men who proudly serve on policing agencies across this nation.

On the other hand and in many cases, police corruption prevails and remains unchecked without the benefit of civilian oversight.

A concept interim police Chief Dennis Burns will avoid at all costs in his efforts to protect his own.

Keeping in mind that number of police officers including police chiefs, interim or otherwise charged with witness tampering, evidence tampering, sexual assaults, coercion, false police reports are now in federal prison.

And studies suggests this has ballooned to over 500 percent since the Clinton administration.

Those of us who are critics and dare defy unchecked police practices are the real safeguards of society.

Unfortunately, the truth you seek will continue to be “obstructed” by the very same persons including judges, DA’s and prosecutors who are commissioned to uphold our laws void of any national attention absent of the Justice you seek.

Interim police chief Dennis Burns and other are in fact terrified at this very revelation and will do all that is necessary to not only suppress evidence, but to protect one of their own with impunity.

Mr. Ciampi, I wish you continued success in your search for Justice; you are an extraordinary brave person to challenge the status quo.

Very truly yours,
Mark Petersen-Perez

We are the police and we are here to HURT YOU!

“NO WATER = NO JOBS = NO FUTURE”

Friday, July 24th, 2009

By Clint Richardson

I’ve driven the almost 400 mile stretch of Interstate 5 from L.A. to Sacramento dozens of times. Quite honestly, it’s as boring as it gets. with only the usual gas stations, mini-marts, fast-food, home-cookin’ restaurants, and strangely a newer batch of Starbuck’s Coffee shops sprouting up everywhere. In between… farms, orchards, cattle, and dirt.

On July 15th, as I began my trip to Utah, I came off the Grapevine decline and hit the flat 250 or so mile stretch of interstate which begins the farming belt in the valley. Almost immediately I noticed what I had only heard about on the radio and in the papers. Where once there were vast fields of green, now there where empty, barely recognizable rows of unplanted dirt and growing weeds. Only sporadically at first, but once I passed Bakersfield and for about a 200 mile stretch, I could not believe my eyes. Field after field laid fallow. And not really fallow, but unattended… as if it was not going to be planted in the near future either.

Signs were staked in the ground on almost every patch of barren farmland. The most common one, which was yellow and obviously a group effort to wake up the sleeping travelers of their future plight, read:

“CONGRESS CREATED DUST BOWL”

Others, which looked more homemade were posted on non-operational farm equipment parked as close to the freeway as possible, stated things like:

“FOOD ONLY GROWS WHERE WATER FLOWS” -and-

“NO WATER = NO JOBS = NO FUTURE”

At one point, after 150 miles or so of seeing this horror, I broke down in tears and had to pull over to the side of the road. I saw the aqueduct, which followed Interstate 5 most of the way, and large fields of dead trees which were planted just a few feet from the flowing cement river. I imagined how those trees would feel, imprisoned in the dying dirt by their own roots, if they could indeed comprehend that their source of life was just a stones throw away. It was like some horrific story-book come to life; science fiction in real time. I was thinking of the farmers and their families and wondering what would become of them and their land. I was thinking about the consequences of hundreds of miles of food no longer being grown, and adding together the other states like Campo, Colorado which have the same situation… only planting 60% of their crops this year.

This deadness went on until the brink of civilization once again began to show. When I approached the Stockton/Modesto highway interchange area the carnage seemed to stop, and the fields appeared to be healthy and bountiful. I can only guess that this is because more people drive on that stretch of the freeway, and so the powers that be are trying to keep up appearances. No other explanation came to mind.

To the readers of this, I can only say that living in the city has literally blinded me to the truth, even though I knew it was happening. I wonder how many other things I ignore? Many economists and trends predictors have called for food shortages and food riots in the fall, and with what I saw last week, I have new reason to believe them.

But then, that’s the real problem isn’t it? Belief…

If you believe that the food will continue to flow (magically appearing on store shelves in a grocery store near you) and just dismiss the very real claims of shortages worldwide, including a severe wheat shortage in this country due to a harmful fungus, then I might boldly say that you deserve whatever fate befalls you.

I challenge you all to take a drive up the 5 and see this for yourself. Please! Don’t let this go unseen. If you are camera or video savvy, I think it would be a really great photo exhibit or website showing the true nature of our common problem. And you better believe, as you take your daily shower, flush your toilet, and water your fertilized-non-edible grassy yards, that this is indeed a Congress created crisis. So please tell as many people about it as possible.

Lastly, if you haven’t already… buy storable food! Go to the dollar store and buy rice and beans. Buy pasta, caned and jarred foods, or anything with a shelf-life of more than 6 months.

What’s the worse that can happen? You’ll have food in 6 months.

What’s the best that can happen? You’ll have food in 6 months.

Take care. Spread this information. Get mad. Fight tyranny. And…

Don’t be a sheep.
