Beekeepers

Thank you for being a bee keeper :)

Thank you for this video….I was heartened to know it had been made VERY recently.
I spent my life after grad school for 10 years dealing with the issue of genetically engineered food, mostly volunteering, then directing efforts, finding funding where we could….testifying in front of the FDA under supervision of armed guards, educating the public, demonstrating, organizing demonstrations with and for various organizations fighting GMO’s, going to DC to meeting with senators and reps who I thought might listen.

The last thing I did before I came west was to organize a panel at Greenfest in Chicago, with Former Senator Carol Moseley Braun, and other local experts, on the future of the food supply and GMO’s….hosted by an organization I co-founded, BioVision2020.org.
I remember one of my last converstions was with an expert about the Bee situation….in 2008…just when it was “hitting the news”.

Watching this has perhaps helped this battle-weary “soldier” want to try to find a way to add this as a link on the site, and/or find the funding to keep the site at least updated with stuff like this.

BioVision2020.org still is a loosely affiliated group of individuals and groups working on this issue within the context of the greater sacred web of life.

The key is the garden…the one we grow outside….( or in greenhouse as the case may be) and the one we grow inside…our hearts, right? :)

Ignacio Chapela….the Berkely professor who discovered that native land races of corn in Mexico could be contaminated by GMO corn at a distance of over 300 miles, and who fought for his tenure at Berkeley under duress from Novartis corporation, said in the movie ( Highly recommend, called The Future of Food) that GMO’s are not only a physical monoculture…that squashes out diversity….they are a symptom of the monoculture of the mind as well.

If everyone has a garden to grow their own food, knows how to grow their own food..and can share their surplus, …..growing the flowers that the bees love….hosting bee houses on their property….( if you want more info, please email me) …as Rob’s video says….it WILL save us, and the world.

Support those local farmers ferociously !!! :)

Thanks for posting and thank you for the chance to share with you all,
Blessings
Christie Azula

Having a bad day? Cheer up!

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Some times I think I have made some bad financial choices. But those all seem rather minor now:

Terrance Watanabe lost nearly $127 million in 2007 at Caesars Palace and the Rio. He paid $112 million of the debt…

Clark County IAP COnvention

Friday, January 29th, 2010

The Clark County IAP Executive Committee invites you to the 2010 convention. It will be held at the Palace Station on Saturday, Feb. 6th as announced on the Clark IAP website http://www.independentamerican.org/2010/01/21/clark-county-iap-convention-update/ .

Please plan to attend, and arrive before 9:00 am to allow time for credentialing. The convention is scheduled to run from 9:00am - 3:30 pm.

I also urge all of you to run for office for the IAP. I think it is the only realistic way to possibly resist the New World Order. We have some real opportunities to win, like never before, because many incumbents are term-limited. Please don’t be afraid of doing this. I myself am a government employee, and I have run for the legislature twice before, and nothing has “happened” to me.

Anyway, thank you, and we hope to see you there!

Some good suggestions:

Basic Support Aid to Schools
save: $254,277,543
This is the amount of General Fund appropriations not requested by agency but requested by
governor.

Class Size Reduction
save: $ 153,537,719
Class-size reduction programs dilute the teacher talent pool and expose greater numbers of students to under-performing teachers. This adjustment would eliminate funding for this program.

Full Day Kindergarten
save: $27,243,848
Full day kindergarten was established during 2005 legislative session in response to record state revenues. Priorities: Full day kindergarten has not been demonstrated to significantly boost student performance.

University of Nevada - Reno
save: $70,728,966
NSHE Restructuring.

Athletics - UNR
save: $7,180,347

School of Medical Sciences
save: $34,667,081

University of Nevada - Las Vegas
save: $78,492,606
NSHE Restructuring.

To Lighten Your Day

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

JACK (age 3) was watching his Mom breast-feeding his new baby sister. After a while he asked: ‘Mom why have you got two? Is one for hot and one for cold milk? ‘

MELANIE (age 5) asked her Granny how old she was. Granny replied she was so old she didn’t remember any more. Melanie said, ‘If you don’t remember you must look in the back of your panties. Mine say five to six..’

STEVEN (age 3) hugged and kissed his Mom good night. ‘I love you so much that when you die I’m going to bury you outside my bedroom window.’

BRITTANY (age 4) had an ear ache and wanted a pain killer. She tried in vain to take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her Mom explained it was a child-proof cap and she’d have to open it for her. Eyes wide with wonder, the little girl asked: ‘How does it know it’s me?’

SUSAN (age 4) was drinking juice when she got the hiccups. ‘Please don’t give me this juice again,’ she said, ‘It makes my teeth cough.’

DJ (age 4) stepped onto the bathroom scale and asked: ‘How much do I cost?’

CLINTON (age 5) was in his bedroom looking worried When his Mom asked what was troubling him, he replied, ‘I don’t know what’ll happen with this bed when I get married. How will my wife fit in it?’

MARC (age 4) was engrossed in a young couple that were hugging and kissing in a restaurant. Without taking his eyes off them, he asked his dad: ‘Why is he whispering in her mouth?’

TAMMY (age 4) was with her mother when they met an elderly, rather wrinkled woman her Mom knew. Tammy looked at her for a while and then asked, ‘Why doesn’t your skin fit your face?’

JAMES (age 4) was listening to a Bible story. His dad read: ‘The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city but his wife looked back and was turned to salt..’ Concerned, James asked: ‘What happened to the flea?’

This particular Sunday sermon…’Dear Lord,’ the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. ‘Without you, we are but dust…’ He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four year old girl voice, ‘Mom, what is butt dust?’

Fed Threatens Congress Again?

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, in a recent interview with Mike Allen of Politico warned that the financial markets could react negatively if Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke isn’t confirmed for a second term. Geithner suggested that the market would see a failed Bernanke confirmation as “very troubling, ” but claimed that he was “very confident” Bernanke would receive enough Senate votes to win a second term. “The markets would view this as a very troubling thing for the economy as the whole,” Geithner said. “I don’t think they should be uncertain. I think they can be confident because we’re very confident.” Predicting that the U.S. economy will begin to show positive job growth by this Spring, Geithner added that Bernanke has done a “remarkable job of guiding this economy through the recession.” The Treasury Secretary also expressed some sympathy for the millions of Americans still struggling to find work, or otherwise impacted by the financial crisis. The country is “in a moment where people are incredibly angry and frustrated by the damage this crisis caused…You see that across the country. That’s perfectly understandable, and everybody involved in this effort is bearing a lot of the brunt of that frustration and anger.” - Huffington Post
