Nevada Proves Once Again That HIgher Taxes Do Not Mean Higher State Revenue

When will the moron Elected Nevada officials get it through their heads that just because they do not have the money they think, in error, that that need so that they can hire more useless teachers, more criminals with badges and more bureaucrats to, as Jefferson called it eat out the substance of the people.

When will they stop killing the goose that laid the golden egg?

The answer to that is easy. It will happen when Nevadans stop electing Republicans and Democrats.

Increase in mining claims fees will drive explorers elsewhere, critics argue

CARSON CITY — Some state and mining representatives are predicting that mineral exploration in Nevada will decline and that as a result, the state will not receive the almost $26 million in claims fees it anticipated this fiscal year.

State lawmakers increased mining claims fees by more than 600 percent to help bridge a budget deficit, but a state mining administrator said the action might not have the desired effect.

LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNALLas Vegas officials have proposed dramatic increases in building fees to make up revenue that has been lost because of the economic downturn and the lack of new building activity.

The proposed ordinance calls for an increase of 65 percent to 70 percent in the fees for plan checks, building permits and inspections. Those fees pay for the work of the Building and Safety Department.
