Defending Vouchers
by Tom Jones

A letter in the Review Journal was titled “Defending Vouchers”. Scroll down to the last letter.

In his Saturday letter to the editor headlined “Can’t vouch,” William R. Fouts states that “a school voucher system is a horrible idea for Nevada.” He then refers to a Louisiana voucher program that compensates some schools that expose students to patently ridiculous claims. Please note that some, not all, of Louisiana’s schools taught this curriculum.

His argument is actually one of the reasons the voucher system should be used. Under the current system, if parents cannot afford a private school, they must send their child to the school in their district. If that school was like the Louisiana school, they would have to expose their child to patently ridiculous claims.

Under a voucher system, parents could choose a different school that did not expose students to patently ridiculous claims. A voucher system allows parents the opportunity to decide on which school is the best for their child.

The writer is Clark County chairman of the Independent American Party and a candidate for the 3rd Congressional District.

Warren Markowitz is mentioned in the Las Vegas Sun.

The IAP candidates are getting noticed by the media. In an article in the Las Vegas Sun, Warren Markowitz is mentioned as a candidate for Clark County Commissioner in District B. He is mentioned in the last paragraph of the article. Warren is campaigning hard and needs your support. You can visit his web site at www.warrenmarkowitz.com.

Stan Vaughan Campaign gets Republican Support

Now Las Vegas Republicans are saying “A vote for Edwards is a wasted vote” as a 70 member group of Republicans has created a ‘Republicans for Vaughan group and contacted of 1600 houses today.

Candidate Vaughan was told by the group that it is vital an economics expert be promoted over Titus. This led to their support as he convinced them the Ryan budget which has a 600 billion deficit was not much better than the Obama budget.

While the group says it still plans to support Romney, it is advocating support and a vote for Vaughan in lieu of Edwards.

Support for Stan is growing rapidly, but he needs your help. You can visit his web site at www.stanvaughan.com/.

The Senate District 1 Election

This is a very important election in several ways.

In this district, Gregory Hughes, an IAP candidate, is running against only one other candidate who is a Democrat. This presents a great opportunity to get an IAP candidate elected to the Nevada Senate.

If Gregory wins this election, it would be national news. It would enable the IAP to be a major party in Nevada and demonstrate that a third party can win a major election. You can make a difference.

We need people to help with a phone tree. It only takes about an hour to make 30 calls. You can make the calls from your home at your convenience. You decide how often you want to help. Please call us at 702-979-3427.

Gregory needs donations to purchase more yard signs and brochures. He has volunteers who want to put up his yard signs and he doesn’t have any left. He also needs brochures to continue his canvassing of the District.

Please donate.
