Voluntary Charity is a blessing.
Compulsory Charity is a curse.
Paying for “Protection” never gets cheaper.
Parasites eventually kill their hosts, unless restrained.
Usury, the fee in money, for the use of money, has been condemned for “only” 3500 years, proscribed by all religions, mathematically unsustainable in a finite money token system, and almost universally embraced to the chagrin of the victims.
Under the law of the jungle, predators are good, prey are good to eat, and prey who fight back are bad.

Coincidentally, the USA has been socialist since 1935, via FICA. Of course, no law compels participation in FICA, so it is “voluntary” socialism.

Of course, that is far different from what the Founding Fathers bestowed upon us: A government instituted to secure rights, and govern only those who consent.
